Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate – IVP

We are searching for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to work in the laboratory developing and executing robust, disease-relevant cellular assays that support lead discovery and optimization.  You will have a strong scientific background in cellular and molecular biology with experience in optimizing and validating automated assays for high-throughput screening. Experience with gene expression, indicator gene, and high content imaging assays are beneficial, as are prior roles performing target validation or biochemical and cellular mechanism of action studies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple disease areas to advance our portfolio.

In this role you will…

  • Miniaturize, validate, and implement robust assays used to elucidate Structure Activity Relationships (SARs) and characterize hits. Familiarity with techniques such as AlphaLISA, HTRF, MSD, qPCR, and high content imaging is required
  • Implement work-plans over agreed timelines, generate written SOPs, data reports, and routinely present findings to project team members
  • Work in partnership with colleagues in the high throughput screening and disease biology teams to ensure that assays and experiments deliver necessary information quality with maximal efficiency, are biologically relevant, and achieve immediate goals that align with corporate objectives
  • Integrate effectively with the team, while excelling as an independent, proactive contributor wherever you have talent, motivation, and bandwidth
  • Specialized experience in at least one of: assay development/ optimization, robotics/ automation, or image/ data analysis is required
  • Become a valuable contributor to other initiatives as they arise in our fast paced, start up environment

To do that you will need…

  • B.S/M.S biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with mammalian functional cell-based assays with readouts including but not limited to indicator gene (luciferase, GFP, SEAP etc), HTRF, AlphaLISA, MSD, gene expression, and high content assay readouts
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple objectives at the same time
  • A passion for excellence, tempered by the practical
  • Experience in using various liquid handlers such as ECHO, Biomek, Hamilton, Agilent liquid handlers
  • Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment and experience in mentoring and leading scientific teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, the shared language of our multicultural team

It is nice but not essential that you also have…

  • Experience in diverse molecular and cell biology techniques, including siRNA, CRISPR, sequencing, pull down assays, western blots, fluorescent microscopy, and flow cytometry
  • Skills in implementing potency, selectivity, and mechanistic assays to drive lead discovery and optimization, preferably in an industrial environment
  • Experience in culturing and handling complex cellular model systems such as iPSC-derived motor neurons and cardiomyocytes, 3D cultures such as organoids
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE) to accelerate assay optimization
  • Talent and interest in data analysis
