Data Scientist – High Content Imaging and Image Analysis

We are seeking a Data Scientist to further this vision and be a part of a new cutting-edge group to leverage human genetics, genomics, and computation to translate high throughput data in condensate biology to actionable knowledge about disease, patients, and therapeutics. This role will be part of the scientific computing team in R&D, working closely with wet lab teams, our data engineering team and our deep learning team to both directly support our drug development programs and build the tools that will provide deep insights directly to users.

In this role you will…

  • Take ownership in the implementation and development of image analysis pipelines to interpret high content imaging data using a variety of tools such as CellProfiler /Harmony/Columbus, ImageJ/FIJI, ilastik
  • Work with cross-functional teams and contribute to drug discovery and development by using advanced high content imaging and immunoassay approaches to evaluate therapeutics, biomarkers, and biological mechanisms
  • Implement new computational methods to optimize/automate high content image acquisition and downstream image analysis
  • Provide feedback on cell and tissue-based method development, high content image acquisition and analysis in collaboration with the team
  • Provide feedback on experiment design and lab protocols to ensure the right data is collected to enable solid analysis and deep insights
  • Work with biologists, chemists and fellow data scientists to perform exploratory and predictive analysis on a wide range of data sources including microscopy and genomics data
  • Design and prototype tools that enable scientists to identify deep insights driving our scientific research and drug development pipeline
  • Coordinate with the Data Engineering team to build robust and reliable prediction and analysis pipelines

To do that you will need…

  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Cell or Molecular Biology, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience (or MS with at least 6 years of experience) in computational biology, biostatistics, or related field
  • Advanced expertise in high content imaging, image analysis and the implementation of these techniques to answer basic research questions. Strong preference for candidates experienced with Perkin Elmer Opera Phenix systems
  • Experience with performing High-content image analysis using Cell Profiler/Harmony/Columbus or ImageJ/FIJI, MATLAB
  • Familiarity with analysis and visualization of complex datasets, statistics, and programming languages (PCA, t-SNE, Python, R, Prism, JMP, Spotfire)
  • Expertise in statistics applied to biological problems
  • Fluency in one or more programming languages (Python, R, etc) along with data workflow and visualization tools (e.g. KNIME and Spotfire) and experience with machine learning and deep learning algorithms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, self-direction and willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques
  • Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, the shared language of our multicultural team
